First welcome to Pelican one of the best forum to get help from.Spark plugs wires are one of the most important parts on your car so don't hesitate to pay a little more & get a quality set.I usually recommend Bosch Silicon OEM since they serve me well for a number of years on my ex 944.But there is also other brand such as Beru got them on my 968 rigth now with over 50Kmiles on them & are still going strong.Beru will cost you approx $145.00 for the set including coil, you can get them here from our host Pelican part#is 10-8533-614-M47.They also have another brand call Karlyn a little cheaper $104.25 but don't know them. For Bosch you may try this place Discount Auto Parts Online - Import Auto Parts -- *********.com the last time I check they were around $95.00 a set.

Do you not believe that his car is an "S"? I mean he only mentioned he has a 944S twice and provided one picture to corroborate that it's an S...

Ok Jr nobody perfect so is the world we live in. I appologize to the OP for not paying more attention New prize for an 87 944S will be Karlyne-STI $158.75-Bosch OEM $120.94 & Beru the most expensive at $214.94.___Pepineco those are only suggestion on brand ,it will be up to you to shop around & decide what you want to buy.

I'm just messin' with ya, Ernie.

I read a service builiten in the back of the factory 944 parts catalog that said something about the 16v engines and the sparks jumping to the bottom of the hood from the wires unless the car has the proper hood insulation. Just something to think about.

Oddly enough, the S2 cars dont have any hood insultation.

I've been working on a Merc 380SEL that could shed some light on the problem:

It was fitted with a set of non-standard Bosch spark plugs that had metal "boots" to connect to the spark plugs. These boots were longer than standard and could definitely lead to some shorting problems if located where the plugs are in a 16V without hood insulation.

Just food for thought.

Will Magnecore work on a 944S? I have read on the board they are the best replacement wires available. They make an 8.5mm wire.

Thanks for the help, If I will not find this type of wires in the local market, I will buy on line.

One more question, that´s replacement brands like Bosch or Beru are compatible with a Audi Spark Wire, this result because in my country there no more than 6 944S all around the country.

Thanks for the help and enjoy your´s Porsche....
