Few days ago I got back from vacation and went for a drive. The headlights would come on but up only partially. I went to see what the problem was and found that the lights would only go up and down if the electrical connection was giggled. I took off the relay/switch with a screwdriver and saw a spark then removed it. I took off the wires next to it to see if they were corroded. I decided to use a small wire brush to clean the connection and made more sparks. I hoped that cleaning them would make a solid connection and the lights then work properly. However the lights didn't. Was the sparking the cause of this? That there was a fuse blown maybe? When I giggle the connection now I can hear a popping noise coming from the relay/switch. I think this is the actual switch completing the circuit but the motor does not even try to move.
Main Problem: The headlights won't come up. They stay at the down position. The lights still come on when the switch is flipped just not the motor. Could this be a dead motor or a fuse of some sort. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Yes check the fuses.
If it only goes up/down when jiggled sounds like a wiring problem perhaps. Check the connection to the headlight motor, also check the ground wires for it. Also check the connection to the switch on the dashboard. Test the voltage to the motor, could have a bad motor. There is also a relay on the headlight motor (VERY hard to access), but don't even think about that unless nothing else works. |
