Pain was involved back when I swapped the transmission in my old 86 turbo.
I didn't have a proper transmission jack and dropped the trans on my elbow from about a foot off the ground. This is what it looked like a couple days later.

Yes, I am getting pretty fast.

Did some standard preventative maintenance today; air filter and oil change. I'm about to start actually attempting to hunt down my oil leak. Gonna have to pull the timing belt covers.

Took the 87 944S to the track on Fri, she drove great, but no match for super charged Mustangs & new Vetts, but we still had fun.

rabbit tube tops and stock 944S bottoms w/ Bilstein inserts

I cut the threaded tops from old Rabbit strut tubes and inserted them into the cut off tops of my standard strut tubes on my '87 944S.
I welded them together, powder coated them and inserted Bilsteins which fit the Rabbit tube and cap thread perfectly.

Stopped by the painter and picked up:

Euro front bumper cover
968 side mirrors
968 door handles
GT racing fiberglass rear bumper
rear defuser
third brake light cover

Dropped off wheels and new tires to be mounted and balanced

Started replacing the side mirrors and found another hack job by one of the PO(s) who previously owned my car.
The passenger side mirror mounting nut in the door is stripped out so the PO put in bolts from inside the door and ground off the head of the mirror mounting screw in the mirror. I had to drill it out and remove the bolts inside the door. The mirror is finally off but now I get to replace the floating nut inside the door.

how well did the painter match up the paint? and are you going to add the bumper strip to the rear?

He did a good job matching the color once he found the right code. He was looking for "Alpine White", the name in the paint code book was "Alpinweisse".

I am very happy with how it turned out. I still have several things left to do but at least I'm not driving around a car with no bumpers or door handles.

After I picked up the wheels and tires I took it to Beck's European in Scottsdale AZ for an alignment. Best alignment EVER and surprisingly, the cheapest as well.

AZ, What tires did you get? I'll be in the market soon myself. And, did your rear spoiler come with some rubber pads to prevent it from hitting the rear 3/4panels? mine didn't but I can see the indention and screw hole where some should have been. As a result my panels are scraped, but you cant see it as long as the trunk is closed. I ended up using foam tape to try and curb it from happening more.

I picked up another set of the Hankook Ventus V12 evo's. I liked the set that I had on there. I just did three days of very spirited driving and now I really like them.
My spoiler did not come with any kind of bumpers/pads.
I was getting a little scraping on my panels as well. I also got a lot of crap/debris stuck up under the spoiler. I found that when I took it off for proper paint. To keep stuff from getting under the spoiler I put thin weather striping around the edge before I mounted it. That seems to have raised it just enough to stop the rubbing.

I hand built some plexiglass headlight covers with mounting brackets.

Pictures tomorrow.

Here is a small peek at the plexiglass headlight covers. More pics in a few days.

Today, I installed a new Lindsey fuel rail and a new fuel pressure regulator, fuel pulse damper and fuel lines from a company called Radium Engineering.

I have some parts on the way to reconfigure(clean up) the rail to damper connection. I'm not thrilled with how cluttered it looks.

Unfortunately, mine has been put in storage due to breaking ground on our garage. I guess she'll be laying low for a couple of months...

Replaced the battery today. Put in a group 91 Bosch, fits perfectly and the plastic cover fits well too. I spent more time cleaning out the drain than actually installing the battery! Luckily I have no rust in the battery area.

I broke the hood latch cable.

Now I get to figure out how to get the hood open with a broken cable.

I made a tool to do just that when mine slipped/broke. My car is stock, so many, many things are in the way when you try to get to it from the bottom.

PM me and we could work out a solution...
