TB re-tensioning done. I was surprised at how much that new TB had stretched so I'm glad I got in there to check. All nice and dry too, which is good to know considering how much time and care we put into the FOES. Next: oil change. 6:45: done.

Got around to having a look at the front suspension on my '87 924s track-car project. Looks like someone should have done so earlier...

Blew the motor at the track
Either Conrod/piston or bearing.
Good chance it is not economic to rebuild so may need another motor. Problem is that I might as well rebuild the new motor otherwise it may happen again.
Ah well, it could have been worse. Somehow...

Details, details

It is my cars' 30th birthday this month, so I decided to vacuum my car, and then one thing lead to another...

Griot's Brilliant Finish Car Wash; 2-bucket/3-mitt method
Meguiar's Clay Bar with Meguiar's Detailer Spray
Meguiar's Ultimate Compound (hood & roof)
Meguiar's Ultimate Polish
Meguiar's M07 Mirror Glaze - Show Car Glaze
Meguiar's M26 Mirror Glaze - Hi-Tech Yellow Wax
12 Hours Labor
3 Gallons chilled potable water (it was really hot & humid)

I took this picture, and a moment later, the sky opened up...

Quick question: is there an inside or outside CV joint on the drive shaft? If there is, I can't tell the difference. Sorry, if this is a stupid question. My first post. I hope to get the right side drive axle I bought in the car tonight.

on manual trans 944s the axles are the same (driver side vs passenger side), and can be installed in either direction (there is no inner or outer specific joint)

Thanks, if everything goes all right, I should be up and running later today. Then to update front suspension with Koni components. Left side front is a little droopy...

hmm... another 'died at the track' story.

my 86 951 sputtered to a stop at MidOhio back in June.

took a few weeks before I got in on the lift. long story short, the boost popped off the hose to the IC at the turbo. that hides under a lot of stuff, but after learning about as much as is possible about the fuel system finally looked down and saw it.

car running great now so need to start looking for my next DE.

The fix worked. Car is driving fine with the new drive axle, except of course for all the other niggling details that need fixing. Oil pressure is fluctuating with RPM's when she warms up now...

Today I did get rid of a patch of faded paint with a wax/buffer I picked up at a local hardware store called "Formula 1". Anybody used it before? It worked great for me, but I've never heard of it. I used their lightest scratch out liquid. I wish I had before pics...

Making her a little more respectable. Has the weather beaten undercoat repainted also with a bumper scrap fixed!

Damn that's pretty! Mine was that pretty ten years ago...

Today I put my 924S back on my insurance policy for the first time in almost two years. I have a little suspension work to do before I can put the new wheels on the front, and once that's done I'll be back with some pictures and video of my 16v 924S.

I attended the local Cars & Coffee event yesterday in Jacksonville at Everbank stadium. I was stunned at the turn out, not 944's/951's, but of cars in general. After I parked and started walking around, I strolled past some machinery that was truly special. I'm certainly looking forward to the next one.

Swapped the street wheels back on the 944S and test fit the 9x15 phone dials

Put transmission number 5 in the car.

#1 Original AOS S2 Limited slip trans (wrong gears for what I plan to do)
#2 89 AOR (parts in a box waiting for a rebuild to fix chipped gears and worn sychros)
#3 Cheap craigslist temporary fix until #2 is ready (lasted a week before it self destructed)
#4 Replacement S2 box without limited slip (NO Speedo gears in the case and NO speedo shaft in/under the sensor. Returned to used parts shop where I bought it)
#5 Replacement S2 box without limited slip (temporary trans until #2 gets rebuilt)

I'm tired of replacing transmissions on this car.

Interesting. Who did the widening ? And what size tires you going to use ?

Cheers

SCORE!!!!!!

#5 is/has limited slip. It is marked as an AOS but it is definitely a limited slip trans. It was sold/priced as just a normal AOS.

Part of me wants to open it up and see what is in it but the rest of me just wants to get out and drive it.
