Probably it's the original relay if you have an 86 date code. They have been known to last quite a number of years.

Removed the rub strips. Used a caramel wheel to assist with the stubborn sticky bits. As a result, I had a bit of repair to do. Never the less, the car looks so much better!

Got through a lot of my carpet install and got the center console (both out of my parts car) mostly installed. Hoping to get everything together this weekend so I can drive the car next week so I can get my DD into the shop.

I'm there pretty much every month. Usually parked by the YMCA because I can never get there early enough....

matt polish ac/alt mount

Got rid of those nasty mold parting panty lines and sand-rough as-cast surface on the alternator mount.

Skipped the mirror polish stage as 'utterly inappropriate' at this time, just like we all know that most chrome is Sick & Wrong on these cars. ( casting was a little porous too ...). But polished alloy looks great any where on a Porsche.

About 1 hour task not counting R&R; ~80 grit old flapdisc on an angle grinder to rough out, 320 paper on a DA orbital to tame those scratches, followed by a stack of those amazing 3M radial bristle discs in 220 grade on a die grinder (google images of 3M part 30128 - if you work heads or polish alloys you MUST become familiar with these radial discs !), then finished with a little 400 wet dry paper rub out happy ending to end a low maintenance matt finish.

I only did the exposed / top surfaces; since most of the alt /ac mount does not show, don't bother sanding the hidden areas. We wont tell.

I may mirror polish it when I get around to doing parts of the intake manifold.
I wish I'd polished the suspension cross member when it was out; looks pretty easy.

Replaced door cards

I pulled off the S2 10 speaker door panels in favor of the light weight single speaker panels, removed the power locks, and replaced the door pull/arm rest with an RS style nylon strap.

Pops, a crest sticker would look great in place of the hood crest on your shaved car.

Ordered SKF bearings for the torque tube today, should be here tomorrow. They were more expensive than the FAG bearings but I found out that they are made in Korea so no thanks...
