My 944 is almost overheating! Temp gets to the 3rd mark and I'm getting a beige/tan mix from overflow bottle... What gives? Oil in the coolant? Mix is NOT white, nor milky... Headgasket? There's no coolant in the oil...

My 924S was doing the same thing last summer. It was the radiator and oil cooler gasket combo that was to blame. The shop also replaced the thermostat and fan switch while they were at it. No more crap in the expansion tank and the temp gauge never gets over 1/2 even at 90+ degrees outside.
The radiator was pretty costly though, but of that's what it takes to fix it.....

Oil cooler seals have gone "Bye Bye"
Stop driving the car. Coolant in the oil is bad for your bearings. Oil cooler seals are cheap, just a PITA to get at. One weekend and you will be back on the road. If you are also blowing white smoke from the exhaust then I would venture a guess at your headgasket. The problem about overheating continously is that your headgasket suffers tremendously. In the end it fails as well. Thats what I believe happened to mine.

yep, I agree.
the oil cooler seals are fairly cheap ($45 or so) However, make sure you get the alignment tool to make sure everything is set properly (tool is about $20 here at pelican) The actual procedure shouldn't take more than an hour or two. the "clean-up" afterwards can take some time After you change the seals flush your cooling system completely at least twice to remove as much oil as possible. You may have to remove the expansion tank and cooling hoses to make sure they are all oil free. Conversely, change your oil right after changing the seals and then a few days afterwards. You want to remove as much water as possible. AFJuvat |

Thanks for all the help guys! I will definitely try replacing the seals ASAP! Let you all know when I'm done.
