Porsche Crest Finally, cold A/C

yes, we finished charging the A/C and it runs around 50 degrees. we had to raise the RPM more because it was going down to like 400 when the A/C was one. Now it's about 1000RPM. Another problem though, the engine is running a lot hotter. the 2nd cooling fan is not working so we will fix it soon and it should help. anyway, cold air is nice....

Hi,

Did you recharge the system with R12 or R134a?

i did it with 134a, it was empty (it sat for 6 years, all alone...) so we figured it was cheaper just to do 134a conversion. It was easy...

I see.

My system is blowing hot air and thinking of converting it from R12 to R134a. I talked with a mechanic this afternoon and he said if the system has some R12 in it left, he is not recommending conversion. On the other hand if it was bone dry, he would opt for conversion. Mine has a little of R12, so he thinks all I need is adding it. He does not think I have leak from the system except from the fittings. Those can be capped with proper caps and prevent leak. My system did not have proper caps.
