What makes hot fresh air come through vents instead of cool fresh air.

Heated air comes through the vents on my 86 951. What could be causing this. Could this be something similar to some AC systems blowin hot air because a clip might be broken. If so Where are these clips. I crawled under my dash but couldn't see anything. Are these clips and rods buried beneath all the plastic behind the dash and I have to remove it all?

And what am I supposed to see under there. I just went out to my car and crawled on my back under the dash. I didn't see rods or anything that looked like it was disconnected. Can you tell me exactly what I am suppossed to see.

Yep, right above the accelerator to the right is a cover that is held on by two or three screws. They are tough to get to and I found it easier to remove them with a cordless screwdriver due to the awkward position. With this off you should be able to see the offending part(s).

Well, you don't have the heat turned on do you? That would do it.

yea great advice.. his heat is on.. i bet

951527: when you turn your key one notch, before the car starts, but where the vents are blowing air, with the knob on the coldest setting and the fans on 4 does the car blow cold air? i bet it does

now.. when you are idling at a red light, try the same thing, is the air cooler than when you are moving?

porsche engineering at its best i bet
