valve cover won't remove
Hi all,
I have an 87 951 I have been working on. Belts, rollers, water pump, cap, rotor, coil, hoses, belts etc. I've gotten to the point of pulling off the cam tower. Only problem is it won't come off. I removed all bolts that I can see. I have tapped it with the wood end of a hammer but it won't budge. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time, You folks have saved "my a " quite a few times. |

you took out the inside bolts (allen head) that are under the outer allen head short plugs, right? Just in case, they are along the top row of the cam tower. The easiest way to get to them, after you've pulled the short plugs, is get an allen head socket and you may have to grind down the outer part of the socket a little so it'll go into the hole. I forget the exact size allen but you can look it up online.

6mm. Snap-On makes a great tool for this with a 3/8 drive.

Thanks for the prompt replies.
When I first looked inside cam tower all I saw was a circle filled with oil. Never occurred to me that it was a bolt. Not fast, but, still trying. |
