rough running until 3, 000 rpm

My 944 (1986 - non turbo) has been running very rough lately
It starts well but runs terrible when it is cold and under 3, 000 rpm. It really runs like on 3 cylinders, no power at all. When the engine is hot it is better but still not full power under 3, 000 rpm.
I have no idea where to start looking ? Bad injector ? Fuel pump (the fuel pump is new) DME ?
Any help would be appreciated

I would check the injectors to ensure you don't have one stuck open slightly. Verify proper fuel pressure, in case you have a regulator issue. Double check the ignition components (plugs, wires, cap/rotor). Also vacuum leaks can cause weird issues and don't forget the lines that run under the intake.

Although a vacuum leak or something is a lot more likely, inspect the AFM and test it to make sure the inner resistor track is working smoothly.

My guess would be the DME temp sensor.
It's easy to measure, as you don't need to dissasemble too much.

but really, anything mentioned before is a good guess!
