91 S2 No crank
This morning turned the key all I the normal dash stuff lit up but there was no crank. Battery is quite new. Volts on dash showed over 12.
I tried several times but had to give up and take my explorer to work. This happend to me once before a few weeks ago but after 2 or 3 tries it cranked and started. Then it was fine. When I get home where should I start? Thanks |

Remove and clean your starter connections, it doesn't sound like you are getting power to it. A cheap and easy thing to do also is to clean all your body grounds.

Will do although the starter was out quite recently but possibly I did a lousy job of tightening the connections.

So the positive terminal on the starter was quite loose. Actually the end closest to the starter of the terminal stud is stripped so the wire could not tighten down and was hard to get off since it was spinning and not loosening. Finally I stuck a blade to create some pressure and got it off. I put on about 5 little washers to move the bolt to a non stripped part of the screw and it tightened down well.
Reconnected the battery, turned the key and she started right up. Anyone know if there is a way to change the terminal stud without changing the whole starter? thanks Mark |

I thought of that last night but my dies wont work. There are other things protruding that prevent running the die over the stud. Mainly the boss and stud for the ground. I have to look around for a die that can work.
