changed some wiring at the starter... are the safety engineers going to approve?!?!

my starter was dying. i bought a new starter from LActrical and the connector at the end of this wire was simply not going to work. i think the starter that was already there was not stock, as this connector had OBVIOUSLY been modified in the past AND the pictures on clarks-garage.com show a completely different setup.

anyway, i cut the old connector off, soldered the new connector on the wire, put a whole bunch of dielectric grease in there (to prevent corrosion/oxidation) and then some heat shrink tubing. the car fired right up, probably in a third the amount of cranks with the old starter.

now, i know this is my poor attempt to do my own fix, on the cheap, and i don't deserve to own a porsche.

i'll let you all know if the car burns to the ground because i didn't take it to shop and get the starter professionally installed.....

buhahaha!!!

That looks fine, but your attitude sucks......

d., from now on we want ALL of your fixes to come through the forum to get our seal of approval before you take your car out for a test drive :)

That is more than I would have done. I would have just crimped one on for a repair.

Blasphemer!!! You must not do such a cheap repair, the Porsche gods would certainly not approve!

Nice attitude, a little sensitive from people daring to offer a voice of reason?
Don't worry, time will prove you right. I'm sure in the future everyone will be impressed buying a "Porsche by nynor" instead of one engineered by Porsche. Ultimately, all buyers look for cars with as many corners cut as possible, right?

nynor 09-07-2014 07:04 PM

um, a voice of reason?! buhahahaha!

but i can see you haven't been here long.... welcome, northern, may your stay here be pleasant and worthwhile!
