reference and rpm signals?
bought 83 944, motor turns, no fuel in tank and previous owner smoked fuel pump, verified voltage at pump. So im checking ignition side and i find wrong coil in car, have substitute to try tomorrow, verified voltage to coil, If i have a tach signal are my rpm and refrerence signals ok? whats easy way to chk without a scope?

if your TACH bounces when turning the engine over, that is a good sign the sensors are OK. but not sure it is a guarantee. my impression is the tach bouncing is a good sign the speed reference sensor is working. not sure if it also represents a good crank sensor too.
I got a non-running 951 project and replaced both because I did not see this. still no tach bounce, so borrowed an O scope to verify signals at the DME. turns out there is something bad with the dash wiring to my tach. so bad fuel pump and questionable coil? sounds like the 944S project I did before doing the 951 now. good luck and have fun.
