So what's the going rate for a decent 944 complete respray these days?

I've been quoted 8k - 12k to strip the car down, repair any/all dings, scratches, etc. and 2 -3 color coats and 1 -2 coats of clear by three shops.

My painter (4th quote) partially disassembled the car (hood, front spoiler, etc.) sanded the car down to metal, applied 7 coats of color (sanding between coats), then applied 3 clear coats. The lady's insurance company paid $1,400.00 to repair the rear right corner panel damage (car was parked of course) and I paid an additional 3k for all the rest. The price included stone guards and rear Porsche decal.
