She's almost done.
Well, it's been four months at the paint/body shop and I'm getting anxious. We paid a visit and took these pics earlier today; windshield clamps, stone shields, 944 placard, and engine bay insulation are all that's left. Anyone that has a few (16) of those clamps for sale, please PM me.

Thanks guys. She was a bit of a mess when I first bought her and then she was hit three times last years, all in parking lots.
I'm not driving her to work any more... Before pics: ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm going to come back to this thread as much as possible. I need some motivation right now to keep going with my early guards red.

Windshield clamps and four new hood alignment pads arrived from the P-dealer. I also sourced a mint condition 944 emblem locally so she may be finished in a few days.
An interesting side note: The local P-dealer informed me of Porsche's initiative to establish many, if not all, dealerships as classic restoration shops. While a great idea, I still refuse to pay almost $400.00 for a belt re-tensioning service.

She's Home!!
After five months (ok, since Dec 20th), she's finally back where she belongs. Man, I missed driving her. The car runs great and looks even better! I couldn't wait anymore as the weather has been fantastic up here in New England. The paint/body guy is just waiting on the stone guards and rear Porsche decal from this host. They should be on the car by next week. I couldn't help myself but took her on a quick photo shoot at a local park before the sun disappeared this evening. (All white shown are reflections) The shakedown trip revealed a few minor issues that I'll take care of myself (two burnt marker bulbs, drivers side door card not totally fastened, rear hatch well drain plugs missing, etc.). I plan on driving her to see my dad in NJ this weekend, will bring tools... ![]() ![]() ![]()

BTW: The painter refurbished both sets of bumpers at no extra charge! She does need a serious interior cleaning; paint dust is everywhere

Looks Great!
Yeah, don't even drive it in Mass. I've been commuting down Route 3/93/495/128 this week to Lexington for training, and omg what a hellhole driving in Mass. is during morning commute times. It's even worse when 5pm rolls around and I have a 2 hour drive home fighting traffic all the way. Enjoy the car, we all know how quick winter comes back and stays around for too long in these parts. Maybe my 944 will come out soon too, been in hiding since November. Last edited by fiily; 05-07-2015 at 04:08 PM.. |

Thanks guys. However, all is not perfect with the car. There's been a few issues that I've found thus far:
1. Small broken plastic bits 2. All the rear well area drain plugs are missing (I spent some time finding them!!) 3. The interior has to be completely wiped down (very dusty). 4. The sunroof motor assembly is missing the rear securing bracket (thank goodness for spare parts). 5. Left turn signal not working (broken bulb and disconnected connector) 6. Drivers side door card not completely snapped in place. I'm sure I'll find more stuff but luckily, these are minor issues that I've already taken care of this afternoon.

That looks great!
You know, I always think, "when I'm done with all this other stuff on the car I'll get it painted". Maybe I should rethink that. Jeff

I actually drove to NJ on Friday (@275 miles) to see my dad. She ran great with no issues.
