1985.5 Porsche 944 n/a to turbo
 

I know this has been talked about plenty of times that's its a dumb idea and cost effective but I just want to have a project for this car something that will really improve performance besides handling. Money isn't a problem but I would really appreciate help to find the parts that would make the car run efficiently and to turbo charge the engine I'm taking my car apart rebuilding the engine and making everything ready including space for the intercooler ..would appreciate if some one could recommend one but anyways what are good brands and parts for installing the turbo types of pistons the compression rings valves everything just name it I've been doing a lot of research on this and I know it's possible just I Want mine running the best it can possibly even beating turbo s specs

If "money" is no problem, just search the cars for sale sections of the forums, craiglist, AutoTrader +++ and buy the beast of your choice for a lot less money and time you would spend doing it yourself.

There is a turbo motor for sale in the parts for sale section. Cheaper option, or, buy a turbo car as mentioned!

If you have a naturally aspirated car and want forced induction, this is how I see the options (in order of sanity):

1.) Sell NA car, but 951.
2.) Supercharge the 944.
3.) Turbocharge the 944.

Then buy a 951, or 930.

Also, define "money isn't a problem," please. Because if you spend any amount of time browsing 951 builds, you will find guys who spend enough money building their 3.0+ liter DOHC big turbo engines to BUY a 996.

If "money isn't a problem" I would look at a turbo 911 and have something I wouldn't have to bloody my knuckles on, or step over and around mid project.

I have a turbo going up for sale...I'll tell you what, trade me yours, give me a stack of cash, I'll kick you in the nads, then we will call it a day!

See the thing is I can buy another car with no problem but I grew up with this car and I've had it for a few years it was my first car and I don't want really high numbers just I wanna be able at least beat a stock mustang I raced a 2006 gt 4.7 and lost by a car length so there's the hope of winning you know and I was already gonna rebuild the engine just when I have everything out I wanna be able to just put all the turbo parts on while its out get around 260hp not to much like the 951 just where it feels faster and goes faster I just wanna make this a huge project that can last awhile

Easiest path to a turbo conversion, IMO, is to buy a running 951 (like THIS ONE) and park them next to each other in the garage until you are done.

Requires many mods!

See what I want is not critiscim I want help for this project I don't want people recommending new cars and such I wanna keep this one and have a project that I will feel proud for doing

Well then in that case, buy a wrecked/burnt 951 and swap EVERYTHING into your 944.

What I was hoping to get from the forum was help with the parts that I'm gonna install like piston brands what kind of turbo intercooler size does the front bumper have to be replaced all the little details to help me make this project successful

Most people that turbo an n/a from scratch (i.e, using no 944 turbo parts) fail.

There are more completed turbo conversions around because they have used 944 turbo components, and/or a 944 turbo parts car. You're better off finding a 944 turbo engine with all the plumbing and rebuilding it. You still get your project that way though how you get there will change.

Can it be done piecemeal? Yes. but there are far fewer people who can help you if you go this route.
