Plug for brake lines

Does anyone know what size or if there is a steel threaded plug that will fit into the brake lines to keep brake fluid from leaking out while the calipers are off of the car? Thanks, Joel

You should be able to just clamp the hose vs plugging the line. There's some cheap rubber faced clamps at home depot or harbor freight. I have one clamped to my fuel tank line right now and no leaks. Threading something into those lines can cause leaks from internal cutting of the rubber.

I have used a piece of rubber hose and a bolt. hose clamp if it doesn't seal as is. cheap, dirty, but effective.

I use the rubber test caps from the mityvac kit without spilling much.

to tie off brake lines for some work, such as replacing old rubber lines with new braided lines, I found a metric 'set screw' that would screw into the female fitting on the hard line where the end rubber line to the caliper disconnects. don't recall the mm /pitch now, but it is common.

if your car still has the rubber cap over the end of the bleeder valve, those fit the end of the steel line perfectly.

I have used a female 10x1.25 concave seat to a -3AN fitting. Then just get a -3AN cap. Worked great for me when i had my car disassembled for an engine swap.

For standard rubber hose lines (not stainless braided teflon?) I've used needle nose vise-grips with pieces of rubber hose slipped over the jaws so as not to damage the brake hose.
