Question targeted?

Do your p-cars over there get ripped off very much? Theyre rarely touched here... actually i havent heard of a p-car stolen here. What I mean is, i guess cos the market is so small here everyone knows everything porsche about everything else, but I have had no problems with vehicle security. I guess the only things stealable would be my stereo and speakers, but nothing else would be worthwhile... am i wrong? is it becos its a 924 ?

If the 924 or 944 is stolen it's for the very expensive stereo systems that are put in them. The cops usually find the car a few days later with a busted window, ignition lock and the radio and speakers ripped out.

For what it's worth, I took my ign. key down to have it copied, but the guy didn't have a blank. He looked at the key, and began to fill me in on how it's an odd key design and that my car would be a b*tch to steal because of the tumber design. Said the old screwdriver in the keyhole bit probably wouldn't work because Blah blah blah. So maybe thieves know this and steer clear of P-cars. Nissans and Hondas are stolen the most around here.

Usually the reason p-cars and other high end cars aren't usually stolen is because if you take a car like that how easy would it be to spot the thing for the cops. If I went and took a honda accord that would be a lot harder to spot because there are probably a dozen in a square mile.

A big market for parting out the Hondas and Toyotas.

As socal mentioned the market right now is for toyotas and hondas......
A porsche car does not have as much of a market for used parts.
In case your not sure you can steel a P-Car just as quick as the next one.
The new cars in general are getting tougher to steal with the computer and keys being coded but it is still possible. I would imagine if someone wanted to steel a coded car it would be easier to just put it on a flat bed or truck...

If you know Porsches, you could probably steal Porsches rather easily. I'm sure I would be able to steal a 944, not that I would.

To deal with possible theft, if I am parking in a questionable area or if my car is going to be left unattended for a long time, I pull the wire from the ignition to the distributor. You can't steal what you can't start.

Yup, I'm that paranoid.

Just because your paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.

I am more worried about vandalism and theft of stuff from my car i.e. stereo, than I am about the car it's self being stolen.

My 944 fell victim to a lot of vandalism and what not. It got keyed a couple times. Someone did a real number on the sun roof. Not deep stuff, but it sucked either way. Never had a problem with someone trying to steal it. I always keep my cars garaged when it is home too, makes it that much more difficult.
