N/A DME Conversion question

I have an '88 N/A DME (PN ends in .05), which uses a 28 pin EEPROM just like the Turbo models do. This DME is set up for the 10.2:1 high compression pistons that I have in my Spec race car.

Well, the DME crapped out on me during a track day last week, and I have a .04 DME which I believe was used for the '86/87 cars and has the 24 pin EEPROM.

My question is, is it possible to do the 24-to-28 pin conversion for the N/A DME's like you can do for the Turbo DME's? Has anyone done this before?

From what I understand is that the car will actually run OK with the '86 computer/EEPROM, but I would like to use the actual proper EEPROM for the engine if it's possible.

EDIT: Well I took apart the '86 DME this morning that found out that it also uses the 28 pin EEPROM, so I guess it's all good.

Was that an original '86 DME with 28-pins? Or a 24-pin that was converted to 28-pin?

The original '86 NA DME I guess has a 28 pin EEPROM. I am surprised since the Turbos only went to 28 pin in the '88+ years.

I don't have too much experience with the NA's, so this may not be 100% correct.

The '86 was a .04 box while the '88 one I have is a .05.
