Arrow 1984 944 Windshield Wiper Speed?

Is there any way to increase the speed of the wipers on a 1984 944 NA? Mine go from switch down intermittent, to up to stop, to up way slooooow, to up to "are you kidding me?" slow. I saw a 944 ice racing video on YouTube - too funny!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ijvKOC8sUA&nohtml5=False

and his wipers did the job. Johnny Nash's hit, "I Can See Clearly Now" is stuck in my brain! Thanks for any help.. God Bless!

Buy a new wiper motor. Yours is 33 years old and worn out. A new one will be faster, but not light speed faster.

There are two things you can do to speed things up a bit:

1. Remove the entire wiper arm assembly and thoroughly clean all pivot points, followed by relubrication (grease).
2. (If you're handy with electrical/electronic devices) - Remove and disassemble the wiper motor, clean the brush contacts and replace the brushes if worn.

My assembly now operates approximately at twice the speed from when the car first came home.

I tried several times to recondition a ww motor, and while reconditioning the brushes, greasing the bearings is easy and gave it new life, it shortly quit working because water penetrated the motor case.

Resealing the motor so it is watertight is the bigger challenge.

I did use some black Permatex sealer around the case and those two metal tabs.
