I've searched for the DME.

I looked all over for the DME in my car and I also searched all over this board for a description of where it is.

At first I was thinking it was under one of the seats, so I pulled them out over the weekend and didn't find it. Then I was thinking it was the metallic box mounted directly under the steering column, but after some searching on the board, I'm thinking it might be in the passenger wheel well somewhere.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

If it IS the metallic box under the steering column, where is the fuel quality switch on it? Do I need to take it out to adjust that?

It is a big silver box under the drivers side dash (usually on the sidewall) and it says "Motronic" on it.

No need to adjust the fues quantity switch unless you are having fuel quality problems

Mostly, I just want to check it and make sure that the PO didn't adjust it.

Is the switch under a cover? Is it on the side, top, bottom?

I know that I need to widdle a triangular type gadget to turn it...

if only I could find it.

(I didn't mean the wheel well in my above post, I meant the passenger floor area.)

Is is on the side - covered with a black metallic cover - you can remove it with a screwdriver.

Removing it without the tool is rather obvious - you will have scratches in the case and the plug will not really fit right.

The silver box bolted to the steering column is the DME. Two or three small bolts will drop it down.

I took a look at it again last night. Mine actually says Bosch on it, not Motronic.

I found the black plug and since it looked like it hadn't been messed with, I decided not to pry it off.

Suprising since all of the other fuel settings seem to have been messed with by the PO. Maybe he didn't know about the FQS.

Thanks for all your help.
