Lightbulb For those who have considered spacers on the rear with cookie cutters!

Well a while ago I searched and searched for pictures or references to anyone spacing the rears of the early cars with cookie cutters, because of the horrible inset from the factory. I found lots of discussion with no answers. So i went ahead and tried myself.

I ordered some 2" (50.8mm) hubcentric adapters off ebay from seller "ezaccessory".
when they got here, i pulled off the factory spacer to put these on, and found that because the factory studs arent threaded all the way down, the nuts to hold the adapter on would not tighten. on top of that, they were about a millimeter too long, and the wheel wouldnt sit flush.
now, i have a buddy with a widebody 911 short hood, not sure the exact year. hes got nice wide fuchs on it, but the fronts sat in a little more than he wanted.
our solution?
his factory front wheel studs went on the rear of my car. my factory wheel studs AND factory rear spacers went on the front of his 911. front of his car sat perfect, back of my car sat perfect =)
i will mention that we tried 54 or 55mm spacers briefly and they rubbed a hair.
ive been running these 2" spacers for a few months and havent rubbed once. no rolling fenders or anything.

So i know SOMEONE is thinking, why not just keep the factory spacers too? lol well, you could, but not with 2" adapters.

the adapter:

stacked on the factory spacer though, correct? basically from hub i added 2 inches (50.8mm) of spacing (removed factory spacer). you added 1 inch (25.4mm) spacer on factory 21mm spacer, which is 46.4mm, so 4.4mm less than mine, thats pretty close to what i have, wouldnt look too much different probably

I would make sure you've got proper engagement on both sets of lugs.

Not a fan of adapters, especially something off eBay. But whatever. Don't like sets of lugs you can't check.

Last picture looks like it's pretty close to rubbing also.

Take care,

Last picture is with staggered wheels and tires loaded in the back for my other 944. It doesn't actually sit that low in reality! And there's no rubbing.
I checked lugs on the adapters when swapping wheels, and will on a regular basis. They were all still good and tight.

Wondering if you know the length of the 911 studs you installed on your 944 to fit those 2" spacers? Looks great!

I believe they are 45mm based on a part number search. That's factory for 82 911.
Factory 944 early rear is 67mm or 72mm depending on 21 or 28mm factory spacer
Getting rid of a 21mm spacer means 45mm sounds right.
Obviously new part number supersedes the old one:
P/N 993 331 671 02
Which are also the front studs on an early 944
