Wiper Activated By Turn Signal

I trying to figure out if I need to replace some relays or if I have a problem with my column wiring or switches. Resently we were on a trip with our 88 924S, we were driving down the freeway, when I flip the turn signal to the right the wipers would start and run in intermittant mode briefly and then stop. This problem has persisted since that time and also sometimes happens when signal is flip to the left.

Most likely your column switches are shot..

I, too have had this problem. Generally this only happens when there's been some condensation in the car. And to fix it all i do is run the wiper switch up and down a few times quick to dry it out. I think it's mostly a contact problem, not really that the switch is shot. Most anything electrical on these cars can be repaired without replacement.
What i plan on doing (when i finally cease my laziness) is just taking it apart and cleaning and finely sanding the contacts.
But it's been so intermittent i tend to forget about it.

I agree- moisture condensing in the column. when these switches go bad they seem to just stop working altogether. The fix to replace isnt too bad on the pocket- but time consuming. Wait it out until you get warmer and drier day and see if the problem persists.

Early 924 had a problem when the ground in the colum went bad the wipers would come on. I replaced the wiper switch on my 81 n/a.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but you
