Ok, SO, for those of you that read my previous thread, im starting another one because this time I DID get scammed on another part. (as I just figured out, after comparing to my recent experience)
Again, another WTB thread I had for poly control arm bushings, guy PM's me and says something similar: "I know of a guy that has this for sale you can email him here : rgreencore76@gmail.com" SO I email the "guy" agree on a price (only $60) Says paypal him, but "gift". (come on' we've all done it) (the one thing i didnt catch was where he said "I have the part", where as in this case its obviously multiple parts.) after not getting it, I just emailed him to confirm, he says, he was busy, but its on it way, week later, nothing. SO, after the last guy that tried to scam me, I realize, hey the guy before did a similar thing, send me to email "a guy he knows".... then I look at the user name, same thing, recent join, and 0 posts or any profile info. DAMN!!! Only thing difference was that this guy, didn't say anything too "off sounding" this user ID is allycurtis773 SO, to recap, the new MO is: they PM you and send you to email someone they know that has the part. That person, says they have the part, asks you to venmo or payplay "gift" them. and you never hear back from them. Spread this around, I'm pretty sure they are doing it every where they can. Tip offs: The guy who PM's you will say something like "I bought from him and the parts were perfect" or "I had a great experience" And/or give their location (mine said: "he's in texas") To give you a sense of reassurance. The User, will have joined with in a few days, have 0 posts and any profile info. And the guy you email, might say vague stuff, like "I have the part" and "I'm the original owner" "new in packaging". Will rapidly lower the price, (hey it's all free money to thisF()cker!) and lastly the pictures will be stolen from other ads (so do a google image search on the pics they send you)

thanks for the heads up on this new scammer. account has been banned. just curious, how old are you? this type of scam is pretty common and the first tip-off is the seller has a recently created account with no history on here, which should be the first thing to check before engaging.
now that you've been scammed and they know what you're looking for, the scammer(s) are going to target you with more scams.

Anyone responding to a WTB ad that has no history on this forum should expect to send the part first where it can be inspected by the buyer and then funds sent (this if you are trying to avoid PayPal).
Personally, I never respond to guys with no history, saves a lot of time.

Do you know the real JR944? If so, can you please have him PM me - I don't want to reset their password quite yet because the email on the account seems to belong to him. |

Yep, this is a new tactic.
I call it the "Relay scam" I was on FaceBook yesterday, and messaged a guy selling a porsche in the marketplace, he came back immediately with "selling it for my mom, email her here:" |

note this is not a 'ban these users' thread and will likely be ignored by the moderators.
the proper way to report scammers and fake accounts is to tag the thread and report it. can you provide a link to the thread that shows the scam or where the user posted?

Passwords may have been compromised in a data breech? Happens all the time.
Scammers have gotten smart, instead of trying to track you down, they want all requests to come to a central email for easy of response and baiting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
