Porsche Crest WTB: 79 or 80 924 drivetrain parts

Looking for a connecting sleeve for the transmission mainshaft to driveshaft.

This is the sleeve that slide over the splined shaft, joining the the two components. It will have a lock nut style fitting on both ends.

It's called a 'torque tube'... my 82 924 had one put on by the previous owner.. he paid around £500 for it... (approx $750!) and from the bill for the workshop time - it's not a simple job - he spent, in all about £2500 on the job!

(just goes to show, it's bloody expensive in the UK!)

Actually the torque tube is the whole assembly that supports the driveshaft. I think what he is looking for is just the sleeve that connects the trans input to the driveshaft.

Which trans do you have? The 79 came with the snailshell (Porsche made), and most 80's came with the Audi box.

If you don't find one soon I can give you some contact info to somebody that has many of them...
