WTB: 951 Cylinder Head. FOUND!

Need one for my 88 turbo. Like to find one that needs seals and maybe surfaced, at most, before use. The idiot at the local shop broke mine and is unwilling to take resposibility.

Thanks, Chuck.

Ouch....

I have a spare one..... It used to be on my car until I bought a racing head......

It was working fine before I pulled it. You can have it for 150.00 if you want.

Ouch is correct...and that is only half the story. Bought one off of ebay that was rebuilt (in all fairness it is) and was advertised as perfect condition. The ceramic in two of the exhaust ports is nearly gone, as in none there. It's sitting in my garage. The company that did the auction for the owner is trying to make it right and I believe they will. But I still have $550 in two "boat anchors" with nice guides, seals, re-surfaced, and re-ground valves but completely unusable. Not to mention shipping, time and trouble.

So...How many miles on the head? Is the ceramic in good shape? Sounds like a good deal just don't need another boat anchor. As you can see I am a little gun shy of buying another head. By the time I buy another I could have gotten a very nice performance head. If you have some pics, or could get some, I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Chuck.

TOUGH CALL........... Actually I got stung the same way...........

A few years back I bought an extra head from a guy on ebay....... The head sat for a couple of years. Until I was ready to use it.

..........and guess what. It had a crack in it! The head had been completely rebuilt and new seats/guides everything by them.........$500 down the drain... but it looks BEAUTIFULL sitting on the shelf..... Actually I have an extra set of new valves because of that!!! forgot about that....

...........but 2 years later I was not gonna hold it over this guys head.

I ended up spending over 1K on my present head. DON't ask... hehehehe....

I would say this head is no different than most used heads you are gonna run across. This head was rebuilt before and the car it came off had ~190K. If I were you I would slap in new stem seals and be done with it. The guides have average wear. Nothing that is screaming at me to replace them. The exhaust seats are ok. I would of re-installed this head if I had to.....

If this is a stock turbo its going on it will be fine. If you are planning on running some serious boost........ uhmmm well I would be doing new seats.

Tough call chuck. I don't know what to tell you.

The ceramic liner in the exhaust ports is good?

I guess I shouldn't be to upset, it's not the first time I've lost money on a car...probably not the last either...
