New Windshield
Due to supplier/insurance confusion, I have an extra, brand new, tinted, tinted band, 944 windshield. Fits early models only. No in-glass antenna.
This is a top quality, made in USA, piece of PPG glass. Not a mark on it, still has manufacturer stickers. Located outside Charlotte, N.C. Must pick up, will not ship. $150 firm. Steve myatuck@cabarrus.com |

Sorry, no antenna.
As noted, this is for an early model 944. When Porsche moved the windshield outward on the tub to a) clear the new dash, b) make for a more flush fit, c) accomodate the airbags that were coming in '87, or d) some combination of the preceding, the windshield radius changed and therefore the width of the glass changed. My understanding is that, forgetting any old stock in either Porsche's or a glass company's inventory, there are only three replacement glasses available. One, like I have for sale. Two, an in-antenna version which comes with a pre-applied urethane molding ... which had to be sliced off before the glass would fit my '86. Three, a cab version. I've been trying to confirm the exact tub configurations which would explain why the molding had to be sliced off for an '86 but presumably not for later models but haven't yet found the right tubs with the glass removed. Will post the answer when that happens. Thanks, Steve |
