Parting Out 924s,944s,951s,968s

I have been asked to assist the owner of our local Porsche garage part out a collection of 15-20 Porsche 924s, 944s, 951s, and 968s automobiles in various condition and stages of completeness. Several of these cars are the desirable S models and turbos.

Additionally there is a ten year accumulation of good used items stored on-site in three overseas containers with complete motors, transmissions, suspension components, drive shaft tubes. Stored inside the shop there is shelf after shelf of accumulated gauge pods, tail light assemblies, electric door mirror assemblies, spindles, alternators, dash components, seats, upholstery, tool kits, brake calipers, DME computers, sun visors, steering wheels, fuel injection rails, lower control arms, and hundreds of NOS parts.

Before being deluged with requests, I am asking for suggestions.

My initial thoughts are to setup a file by vin number for each automobile. Take pictures of all sides of the car, interior shots, engine and trunk compartments, wheels and soforth. Create a post with a list of the cars by model, vin number and color. Would this method be acceptable and more importantly usefull to you all?

Your concept sounds good... when I shop, I am looking at (in no order) :
1) Model
2) Year
3) Type of trans (Manual/Auto)
4) Colors inside/outside
5) Condition (usually photos help greatly with this)
6) Missing parts or non-functional items
7) Damage

when you get everything sorted out, i'm very interested in a luggage cover that is in good shape, out of a split-rear-seat car, 951S or 968.

I think it would be a good idea to post a list of all the cars year and model. Or you can take pictures of everything and post them up and people can see what they need or if you can't identify a few things


When your ready I need a good 944 Turbo shortblock (preferably a car that had a snapped t-belt) unless I can get a good deal on the rest of the engine

Yes there is at least one perhaps two 924 Turbo cars.

There is one 1986 Turbo but the owner hasn't decided whether or not he is going to part the car out or not. It is a nice car and I wouldn't blame him if he decided to keep it.....

Yes, there is only one 944 Turbo but a couple of 924 Turbos. There are three containers of motors and transmissions and other 944 items. There may be some 944 Turbo stuff in there but at this point I don't know.
