924 5 speed needed
I have a young Porsche 924 owner who needs our help. He has had the car only one week and the tranmission might be toast.
I am looking into it for him this morning but want to get a line on a transmission just in case. Anyone out there know of a 924 that is being parted out with a good transmission? This is a 1980 924 so transmissions from 1980-1982 should be a good fit with out any additional work. Let me know. The car is in Newhampshire USA. So the more local the better. Thanks Eric eturbo924@yahoo.com

I'm in Connecticut, and I have a 944S transaxle. Not sure if it mounts up to the 924 torque tube or the shifter linkage (would work with 944s, I just don't know 924s well), but it should physically fit. It would likely be an OK match for a 924's powerband. It has nearly identical gears to a 944 NA.

btw
BTW the 944 or 944s trans will not fit with 924 torque tube l the splines on 924 are 20 mm and the 944 is 25 mm also the 944s uses a late trans hanger while the rearly 944 and all 924 including the 924 s use early type mounts that atttach to cross member this change came about in 85.5 in 944 to the best of my knowledge , jesse ps can use 944 torque tube and 944 trans in 924 use 83 ford clutch or maybe 85 check 924 .org also good place for tranny someone may give him one on the area ps the 924s and 931 torque tube is same as 944

924 tranny and car
Hi,
I have an 80 924 that has a good tranny... you can have the car as I don't need the ride anymore... the only rub is that I'm in South carolina... I think clutch bearing is toast... -curt |
