Feeler Post: '90 S2 Top End
Hi all, someone in the area just wasted their '90 S2 Cab's head with the usual "Chain Tensioner Failure". Cams and head are toast, and they are thinking of selling it.
1) What is a decent price? Don't know if it has M030/LSD/etc. yet. Body and interior seem to be in good shape. 2) Who has/how much for a good S2 head/cam setup? I really like the looks of the Cab 944's, so am entertaining this as a "What if". Thanks, Keith

Tough to put a price on it without options and mileage. Low side for a running one is $5000-$6000. Head and cams seem to be $1200-$1800 used. I still have an extra head, but no cams or chain. Also in the process of trying to purchase another cab. to do a turbo conversion. Will be selling the S-2 motor. You have my #. Give me a call this weekend.

Hey KD I went and looked at the same car a couple of days ago and i even talked to the mechanic that did the work on this car. They are saying a used head runs about 1000 to 1500 and that is without the cams. They quote the cams run about a thousand each. To do the work is not that hard, but cost for the parts and trying to locate them might cause some headache and some waiting.

Yep, understand that. Looking for other sources for these parts that might make sense. Heck there is a full S2 motor for sale on here for less than that price.
You putting an offer on it?

I have thought about it, But I not sure about the other details on the car. If you buy it call 20th street they have a head without the cams or possibly a 968 engine that could be dropped in. If you are not too keen on doing this yourself e-mail me at scmaa@msn.com my buddy and I do performance and repair on these and various Euro and Asian sport cars.

MSC, did you pick up the car? The guy gave me his work number/email or something. By the time he got back to me, he had sold it....

944S2 parts
i have two 944S2. a 1991 cab and a 89. i am thinking about keeping the cab and selling off some of the parts from the 89 and keeping the rest. the engine has 125k on it and i put the belts and chain pad on myself last year. runs great and i drove it a few time as a de car. i raced 944 in e - production so i know something about these cars in general. engine has the turbo oil cooler. runs without any issues and makes great power. you would have to wait for me to pull it but if you want we can talk about a price. i am thinking about 3500.00 for the whole engine and oil cooler with lines. PM me here with your thoughts. you can come drive the car all you would like as i have kept it steetable. 6k and you can drive it home. has roll bar and bilstine turbo shocks with helper springs. clutch bearing and p plate have one de day on them. stock parts. sports seats. a/c works keyless entry. and after market sway bars. everything on the car works but the clock. a little hard on the street but not at all unbearable. lawrence
