Pull transaxle out of car. 2 hrs labor
Remove small plate then shifter selector rod out of transaxle Remove L & R axle flanges Remove side cover Remove main steel gear section from front aluminum diff section Diff then slides right out, and now ring gear needs to ne removed from your old unit and torqued to new Diff. Proper spacing of ring gear on pinion gear is done by factory with shims behind the bearings races that are slid into side cover and transaxle bellhousing. This is what the diff. rides on and gives proper back spacing to allow smooth engagement of R & P. I have switched a few out with new bearings and seals and it takes around 6 hrs from start to finish jacking up car and all, of course you need to buy the parts first and have them on hand. There is actually a very good article on this very thing in Excellence last year I believe, check the website. Not very hard just takes regular tools nothing special, as you measure the old diffs spacing with a caliper and then make the new diff. have the same measurements when placing new bearings into unit.
