WTB Good 2.5 Engine/Block in the Northeast
Hello everyone,
I am currently building an engine and I have found myself with 2 blocks that I cannot use. Because of this I am looking to buy preferably A low mileage pre 1985 2.5L complete engine or possibly just a block (with balance shaft housings and crank girdle) The block itself must be in excellent condition with no scratches on the cylinder bores, all the head studs, no stripped bolt holes etc. As I said I would prefer a complete engine and it would be ideal if someone could take the cylinder head off to make sure the cylinder walls are in excellent condition and then sell the engine complete. I am in the Albany, NY area and in about 4 weeks I will be driving from Albany, NY to Baltimore, MD. This means that I would prefer an engine within a reasonable distance from Albany but when I drive to Baltimore I could also pick the engine up from the Hudson Valley, NYC, NJ, East PA, Delaware, Maryland or Washington areas. Thank you very much for looking and I look forward to hearing back from you all, Hugh Last edited by 944OlderThanMe; 04-17-2012 at 05:54 AM.. |

I'm not sure if this is too much for you but I'm selling a running car that starts, drives and the engine is in good condition. Just a small leak of oil under.
I'm located in the Boston area which is not that far from you. Let me know if you are interested. Here's the link below. nasaforums.com • View topic - FS: MA 1985.5 Porsche 944 DE/Project car |

thanks got your email but like i said im really looking for a early 2.5NA block/complete engine. but I could maybe be swayed towards a complete 2.7/ turbo engine with computer and necassary parts if the price is right ( I know this is unlikely
)

I've got a block in central CT. I just need to make sure I still have the balancing shaft housings but I know for sure I have the crank cradle. How does $100 sound?

Hello, a few questions: Could you post some pictures of the cylinder bores and the entire block? Are there any scratches at all in the bores? What is the piston tolerance number? ( this number is a 0, 1 or 2 and it is on the right side of the block next to each rectangular oil galley when looking from the rear.) And lastly what is the engine number? (its on the left side of the block all the way in the back where the clutch housing attaches)
Thanks a lot, Hugh |

Here's some pictures. No, there are no scratches on the cylinder bores.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The piston tolerance is 2 and the block number is M44/07 and 43H 13741 I also have a bunch of other engine parts if you're interested; pistons, head, oil pan etc. |

Rudeboy42, thanks for the pictures and I am definitely interested in buying the block. Because it came from an 87 924S, it still has the manual timing belt tensioner right? Also, did you find the crank girdle and both the balance shaft covers that came off that block? My email is hckelleigh@gmail.com so you can contact me there.
