Air meter-fuse relay?
Hi,
Is there a fuse or relay associated with the air meter on a ‘84? Car will start with the air meter disconnected (idle fast) but will not start when air meter connected. Air meter is newly remanufactured, Other ideas welcome! Thanks, Tim |
Tim, who remanufactured it?
|
Got it from 928 International
|
Hmmmm. Any chance that anybody near you could put it in their car and try it?
|
No
At first I thought it was a vacuum leak but that doesn’t seem to be the case. |
If the MAF is under warranty get a replacement, it should run well with a properly calibrated one, if it run better without the MAF then it's sending the wrong info to the LH computer. There is no direct fuse for it.

Pagno,
Tim has an '84 L jet, so he doesn't have a MAF, but has a "barn door" instead. |
I am starting to think that the wiring to the meter “barn door” is somehow the problem. How can I check this out?
|
Tim, I wish I still had my "extra" barn door to send to you to try on your car for testing.
I have only ever had 1 L-Jet car and that was very briefly, yet somehow ended up with extras for L-Jet cars. Unfortunately, my barn door is gone. What you need is a pin-out for that connector. Does anybody on Pelican have the Pin-out for the Barn door connector? |
Found a connector on eBay!
Now I am back to it not starting again whether meter is on or off |
