Question Gauges and dash lights dont work

My dad just bought a 79 Euro model 928. The gauges, and dash lights dont work. When the headlights are turned on, the speedo needle pops up to about 140, and stays there. Im guessing a short, but where? Help is greatly appreciated.

Hello

Sorry for the delay but I would focus on the light switch. Right now I still try to find some resources on the net ( wire shematic ).

The 928 electric is easyier to handele then the old 911 add on wirejungle. But some corners are harder to reach.

Simplest would be to remove the instrumentclustercover and check the wireconnections and the connectors from the Instrument.

Hello

What help?

It was on my task list for several days but can´t remember to find something suiting to that. I also have a problem to find a direct relationship so it must go around some corners and is maybe caused by something added into the car.

Cool

First step is to always check the brown ground wires. Then take a look at the two ribbon connectors that bring all power to the gauges etc. I would then look at the rheostat for the gauge panel lights under dash just above your right knee. These are not very hardy switches.
