82 looking to buy!

I wanted to get a little knowlege on a 928 I will be getting this weekend:
It's an L-jet.
It's an '82 US motor with Euro cams and MSDS headers. Other than that the motor is stock

Can't find my Ouija board, what do you want us to guess about it?

US 82 is pre S, so small brakes and a 95mm bore 4.5L motor, Euro cams without Euro pistons makes me wonder about valve clearance, but I suspect the HP isn't changed much if any with the smaller US air path through the intake, heads and valves.

If you post a VIN one of the guys might be able to tell you what it was once like, given it sounds like its been tinkered with.

I wouldn't worry about valve clearances with the cam change, and yes, there's probably little increase in power due to the heads, intake and throttle body not being changed. headers will help if the rest of the exhaust system is opened up. X-pipe would also help.

I would be skeptical about the cam change though, unless I saw casting numbers or something to verify the change (other than, "yeah, it's got Euro stuff in it")

good luck--

Where in Florida are you. Lots of us in FLA. Perhaps someone could help with an informal PPI?
