95 928GTS 5spd differential off
95' 928GTS 5spd 31,257 miles dashboard shows a warning "differential control off". Dealer said it is OK to drive, but they need to replace a "pot" to make it go away. Anyone knows what they are talking about? Is this a sensor or a relay I could replace??? Thanks. Steve Z

Given you don't have a concurrent ABS warning, that rules out an ABS sensor being the problem (also used by the PSD computer-controlled diff system).
The most likely cause is that the brake fluid in the PSD pump has not been flushed in many years (possibly since leaving the factory), and accretions/sediment are blocking the pump that generates the hydraulic pressure used to actuate the diff. There's a separate reservoir in the back of rear-left wheel arch - the full flushing procedure with diagrams etc. can be found here, courtesy of 928 International: http://www.928intl.com/repair/psd1.pdf

This is the sort of thing a dealer might really sink you for some serious $$$, approach with caution.

+1 on what Danglerb says. Asking them to flush the fluid may result in a large bill for a new PSD pump, when it may only have needed more determined flushing attempts to unblock.
IIRC, the Bosch Hammer diagnostic tool the dealer has for the 928 also has the ability to manage the PSD pump, so their version of the flushing procedure should be much simpler.
