yah thats close!! LOL, yesterday out on the freeway i saw a sweet silver Panamera...looks so much better in person! But the driver??? i pulled up next and honked the horn and waved..ready to give a big thumbs up..the Bastard wouldnt even LOOK at me...i was like F-U and floored it and left him behind, is this what we can expect from panamera owners??--P.S. i thought it looked like a stretched out CAYMAN.

Jim I have the same perception of this car. It looks SO much better in person than in the pictures! Don't get me wrong, I would have styled the rear end differently.... but the car itself isn't bad at all!
-As we have both discovered, the few owners of this car so far have not been very impressive. N! |

yes Normy..it looks like this car is not attracting the sports car-race fan-motorhead type like ourselves---but the arrogant gated community type that was probably driving a Hummer H3 last year! I HOPE the rumors are true about Porsche re-releasing the 928 next year..based on the panamera chassis and your choice of v-8 or 600 hp v-10!

Dude, that was well done! What I probably should have done was stop, put the car in neutral, set the parking brake....and then got out and tapped the guy's window.
"Hey, my name is Normy, and I'm a certified Porsche-fanatic. Would you mind if I back my 928 up to your rear bumper and take a picture so that I can show my friends?" I simply didn't think about that right then. I saw the car, and wanted to get the picture as quick as possible, in case he drove off. It was a situation too-good-to-be-true! As I came down the parking aisle at Publix, it appeared the owner was out of the car. The flashing backup lights should have told me something. Oh well, I screwed up. N! |

Here's another perspective thanks to Mrmerlin...although I have to look twice to see a Panamera beside his exceptional 928.

I love they way the two look together BUT if it were my Panamera, I would have the window trim anodized to either black or or a deep ultraviolet as I think it takes away from the body lines and "frames" in the passengers, but thats just imho.

I stopped by the local Porsche/VW/Audi delership today.
Saw a Porsche Panamera in carbon gray, I'd call it a very dark bronze myself. It is better looking in real life, hides it's mass pretty well. The hunchback thing is still there, but the car is lower in real life than in photos so it does look like a Porsche. For $118,000 I think those flaws might be enough to keep this car a rare sight on the road. If you just look head on at this car it's real nice, it's the rear and roof line which is all messed up.

They do seem to share certain lines?
I do hope they bring back a 928 though. It would be great if they gave it a retro look? Bring back pasha! Regards Paul |

haha such a typical story lol.....new owners have porsches for completely different reasons than the owners of the old cars. Hence, the pleasure I derive when terrorizing ladies in boxsters with my '74 with straight pipes
![]() but i will say, i've had the benefit of owning and driving a 928 in chicago , where ive lived my whole life. i can say, that the car gets literally ZERO attention from the general public, unless its a porsche driver shocked to see someone still gives a damn to drive a 928 on the road and keep it nice!! thats the typical comment i get "wow thats one of the nicest 928's ive seen in a long time"...most of the 'runners' have bit the dust at this point however. i saw my first panamera in berlin, as (believe it or not) the staff car for hauling around guests...this was in december of this year. i took pics as well, but needless to say i was not impressed in person either...the pic Normy has is great, showing off HOW BIG the pan is compared to the 928. its just too bulgy...however that 928 concept looks awesome, very aston martin in the rear i must say |

I personally do not want them to use the 928 monicker for their new Panamera-based coupe.
In my opinion, Porsche is lowering itself if they do another "retro" car, and use 928 styling cues on their new 2-door V8 GT. There are plenty of designs in the world; why do they need to try to resurrect one that is gone, when they can potentially produce another winner? The 928 isn't for today's market. It had its time, and the remaining 25,000 examples in the world remind the 6.5 billion inhabitants [and a few animals~] what a great design it is every day. I can tell from the looks I get that I brighten people's lives every day when I park that car in front of them. "Oh wow! Which one is that? Is it a 944?" I hear from people in parking lots all the time. Seems everyone has seen the design, but nobody knows what it is. They know it isn't a 911, so the next name that comes up is 944, since there were a lot of them. -My name for this car, the name that I submitted to Porsche and have talked about on this website, Reutterwerk.com, and on that other website...is "Culebra". It means "snake" in Spanish, and is the name of an island just off the east coast of Puerto Rico. Thus it has a Caribbean connection [just like "Cayenne" and "Cayman"], snakes are known to be fast... and it has a "C" at the front, just like any other Porsche that has sporting pretentions and has a name instead of a number. And it even sounds vaguely like the word "coupe", which is exactly what it will be: A two-door car with a hatch. N Last edited by Normy; 03-23-2010 at 03:37 PM.. |
