They plug together for your AC compressor.

A/C Clutch Relay -

Hey lfausty, Now would be a good time to add a heavy duty (fog light type) relay to your air-conditioning clutch circuit. When you press the dash mounted A/C ON/OFF button there is actually a small relay inside the Temperature Control Unit that supplies 12 volt power to the A/C clutch. This small relay is a bit under sized and can be a real pain to replace if it fails. It is very simple to connect in the energizing coil of a larger relay to the power coming from the small relay and then tap off a good solid 12 volt source (battery jumper post located on the passenger fender splash shield) to energize the A/C clutch. The integrity and life of the original circuitry is improved considerably since the newly added relay now handles the A/C clutch coil current.

I had trouble with an intermittent A/C cooling issue for several weeks one summer before I determined it was a problem with the original factory circuitry and not a compressor issue. It was really hard to look cool and sophisticated when your windows didn't work and the A/C had shut down in 100 degree Texas temps. I got right busy sorting out the electrics pretty !#$@ quick..... especially with the wife going on with blaugh blaugh - yahda - yahda - "if you want me to ride in this thing" yahda - yahda ....

Good Luck, Michael

A/C Compressor Clutch Circuit -

lfausty's Garage - 1982 porsche, i havent been even remotely near ac and its workings though yet but something to take note of.

I thought the two mating connectors you were initially asking about had turned out to be the power wire to your A/C compressor ? The added relay I mentioned is just a simple method to eliminate a potential problem on some of the early 928's.

Good Luck, Michael
