Keyless Entry/Alarm

Out of curiosity, has anyone installed a keyless entry system in their 928? Is a keyless entry system compatible with the style motors that activate the locks while still enabling/disabling the factory alarm?

Hi

I have what you are asking about I think...

Maybe a translation problem here though lol..as I am English

I have a Clifford 650 alarm with ALL the add ons...

This gives me...

Remote locking/unlocking and it also talks and says SYSTEM ARMED or SYSTEM DISARMED.

It has a Microwave bubble over the car and if someone approaches it ....it says (in my voice) " DEFENSE SYSTEM AND VIDEO RECORDING ACTIVATED ...STEP AWAY"

It also has remote starting up to around 50 metres...and warns people about the car starting

It also has the rear hatch lock on a button on remote...

Plus a few other things like an anti hijack system...

All the best Brett

No Man's Land -

Hey Opelotus, The Clifford brand keyless entry/alarm system (Brett9282 above) is well known to be one of the best on the market and very difficult to bypass quickly. It was specifically mentioned in several car movies such as “No Man’s Land” where Charlie Sheen stole Porsche for a living. Another similar multifunction unit is made by Alpine. Just make sure to take the time for a proper installation, guarantee good grounds and solder in all your connections to eliminate any reliability problems.

Actually the keyless door entry systems have been around for quite some time. I saw one of the very early ones in operation on a 944 one afternoon at a golf course. The owner must have had a pretty tough day on the links only to find that he had locked his keys in his car. A nine iron (universal master key) through the left hand rear window worked perfectly - no key required. The explanation to the wife probably started out with “ you should have seen this huge bear and then, and then…….”

So you think this was the correct club selection?

I would suggest to not add on any alarm systems to your car , it wont get stolen the car is too old to steal, usually the addons will work for a while,
then one day the car will be immobilized and you will wind up on the back of a tow truck

Alarms have been nothing but PITA on all my 928's, non starting, going off at random. I currently have a fair amount of time and money into the alarm in my US 83, and it "almost" works. Currently main function is that it lets me know the battery is getting low by sounding the alarm, something about the voltage dropping enough that a weak door pin switch now thinks its open instead of closed.

It locks the car ok and sets both factory and its own alarm, but unlocking its not 100% disarming both, so lots of unlock, open door, alarm goes off.

Door lock motors run off a weird system of pulses, and don't seem happy with all alarm systems.
