Someone did the bearings with the motor in the car. BMWMac I think. Pretty innovative. I was among the doubters, but he pulled off (and actually is very slick with how he did it.) Definitely should ping him and get his 2 cents on how to pull it off without any problems.

I would say whatever it would takes to remove the Oil Pan with Engine in. This would require at a minimum to raise the engine up off it's mounts, I think I saw some way with some 2x4's, and chains. Or Removal of the Whole Steering Brace. It's not just getting to those 10mm bolts, but movement past the oil pickup.

HF has a cheap effective fender to fender lift thing.

I've seen it done well all three ways, pull the motor, lift the motor, drop the rack.

Dano.. i am using a basic hex drive 1/4" ratchet..on a universal joint and extensions..for the top bolts i am using a variety of hex keys. when it comes time to re-install i am going to use the hex keys with a drop of super glue to hold in place until snug..i wish i still had a camera..no-more..plus i am using a library computer no-way to upload photos.

when i dropped the oil it looked pretty good.just a litttle swirl of water..the oil breather and vent burnt off most water. ony the oil breather had that cappacino look. the car never overheated and i never ran her long or at any revs abouve 2500. my race sponsor carl Fauset and my dad think the bearings are probably OK. i am hoping they are all correct.
