is this normal

i was finally ready to put all my new fuel lines filter and pump in my car when i found the end of another filter inside of the tank it connected straight from the tank to another filter then the pump that pump goes to another pump,filter,....etc
i cant tell if this first filter is supposed to there or how to replace it if it is. ill post pics when i can my phone doesnt want to connect right now

Normal, it lives there, early models had a boost pump in it's place (the filter is a better deal.much cheaper to replace than an in tank pumpthe line should come out of the tank to the external pump, then to the external filter, then to your engine
