Marvin's tank going in...couple ????

Just about have Garrett's fuel tank back in. Does this main fuel line thats encased in insulation ever need changing?? It is a flex line but I have never seen anyone change it.

Also the electric wires that run to the pump has a couple that are just tapped up....anyone know what these would be for???

Thanks

I'd say that the taped up wire is that of the Internal Pump if you don't have one. If it is, keep it taped up on move on. As far that hose, you've got total access right now. Just replace it. You should be a pro by now since I know you replaced your engine compartment fuel lines already.

But yes, your right, I have of not heard of one person replacing that hose.

Dean this was linked to in my fuel line post over on Rennlist. This is a complete write up for a 79 I believe and it goes through replacing every soft line, including the one in question here.

Good link...I had lost that one. Strange they put the filter in the wheel well??? Is that another pump in the wheel well too??? I guess in 1980 they started putting the filter right next to the pump under the tank. I did not know that.

Well...heck...I guess I need another fuel line.

The filter and pump yes. I believe in the 78 and 79 cars there was both a filter and pump in the wheel wells. And I'm right there with you on needing more fuel lines. Except Marvin looks a lot better than mine!

30R9 is the type of hose that everyone is saying to use. It is what I am going to look for in an hour once off work.

Dean I just called my local O'riley Auto parts store and they have 30R14 fuel hose that will hold up to 255psi. Way more than needed. Might try calling them if you have one in your area.

My problem with hoses on the tank was with the hose from top of the tank to the filler, looked a bit sad, so replaced with a cut length of standard hose(not a pressure line)
the angle of the tank end take off is cunningly designed so it is near impossible to re-install without getting a kink that stops air/fuel bleed. had to remove tank and try again re-installing the hose,
fixed problem by using an old outer coil spring thingee from a brake hose on the kink area of the line.
