Book worth $900 or more? What have I missed?
Spent a little time searching Amazon to see the value of my extensive Porsche library as I was thinking of selling out. Many of my hardbound collection are listed for only $3 plus shipping. A couple at about $40. Then I found the Brian Long 928 book:

I downloaded that book at some point. Not sure where I got it, but I then printed it out on my Work Color Laser Printer. I can easily now take it to Kinkos and get it Hard Backed. FYI, that's how much I paid for my 1983 S. I'd take a car over a book anyday

Hey Jim, Yikes – how do they set the price of things on Amazon - by guess and by golly ? Brian Long put together an excellent overview of the development and history of the 928 but .........it must have been even better than I remember.
I bought that book and several others for about $65 right before I bought my first 928....? I should see if Amazon would buy back my copy for $700. Shoot I’d probably even take $675...... So Lets see, with shipping that'll be $825 Going, Going, ......ha, Michael

Amazon MIGHT merely be the merchant operating the sale. The book is owned by a private seller or a retail outlet USING Amazon. Amazon takes a (large) commission and handles the transaction for the seller. The seller sets the price. NOT Amazon

I would contact Brian Long and try to get one for free before paying $800 for a book. I only paid $20 for Excellence Was Expected and it's a 3 volume super book.

What's really odd are the $1,000 to $4,000 price tags from different Amazon vendors! All it takes is one idiot to continually leave something at an insane price and others follow right along thinking theirs must be worth a fortune too. See it on ebay all the time.

The Book Depository has it as unavailable - I wonder if it was a limited print run? Pretty sure I got mine from Amazon as soon as it came out and it was under NZ$100 incl. shipping.
