928 won't turn over

I have a 82 928S that will crank but won't turn over. It did this about a year ago and a mechanic neighbor fiddled with the ignition coil and it fired up. No problems since. I drove it a few times within the last few weeks no problem...last night I go to the store and it dies on me. I pulled on the ignition coil wire while my brother was turning the ignition and low and behold it finally fires.
Does this mean my ignition coil is bad or no? Could it be the cable? Distributor cap?
Any suggestions?

what color is your green wire? if its turning brown or the connectors ends are crumbling its time to swap in a new wire .
NOTE remove the small black plastic collar on the side that connects to the distributor

green wire going to the bottom of the distributor looks good...i'm wondering if its the wire on top of the distributor coming from the ignition coil. it doesn't feel like a snug fit.

I had this on my brothers 78 and it was a bad green wire. I had no idea it would keep the motor from moving at all.

The plug at the fender end had dry rotted. It fell apart in my hand but I could still insert the pins after trashing the plug parts. It started right up. Ordered a new wire and not it looks and runs great.

Am I suppose to get continuity from the distributor wire to the ignition coil?

Dean have you ever heard of the car not starting because of the door looks? Only time I recall this happening is AFTER I've locked the doors. (which was twice)

I am sure the alarm system would disable the starting but I would really look at the green wire. They are critical and do not age well.

I found it!!!! It was an anti-theft issue. I simply disconnected the battery, waited about 15 minutes and it fired right up! Drove it all day and no issues. I'll keep you guys posted!

Thanks for the advice!
