LOL...I'll admit that removing the connector without destroying it was the part that was worrying me. I have never replaced the temp sensor and I can find no record in the PO's service records of ever having replacing it, so I figured that I might as well just order a new one. I have owned the car for 2 years now and while I would rather concentrate my money and efforts on fundamental maintenance rather than nickel and diming myself replacing working parts I feel that there is a good chance that this part is faulty...or soon will be...besides for 40 bucks I figure I can't go wrong. I appreciate the tip though.

Harborman - I have installed the new temp sensor and besides the gauge now accurately reflecting the temp indicated on my IR gun...the car now seems to be hot starting correctly...so hats off and many thanks!
