LOL...I'll admit that removing the connector without destroying it was the part that was worrying me. I have never replaced the temp sensor and I can find no record in the PO's service records of ever having replacing it, so I figured that I might as well just order a new one. I have owned the car for 2 years now and while I would rather concentrate my money and efforts on fundamental maintenance rather than nickel and diming myself replacing working parts I feel that there is a good chance that this part is faulty...or soon will be...besides for 40 bucks I figure I can't go wrong. I appreciate the tip though.
