Door bracket
I seem to be having trouble tightening the bolts on the bracket. The top one in particular is loose. They looked like Torx but an Allen fits. Unfortunately a bit stripped in the head end. The top one hard to get into because of the plastic electrical protector. It also seems a bit hard to get behind these. Are they just nuts behind or some kind of bracket? I would like to remove and replace with a good quality Allen socket head bolt if possible.
What is happening is, the top bolt is loose and allowing the bracket to slide back and forth. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1464458281.jpg |
These are the style bits that you should have used. Yes, a allen bit will fit...but doesn't work well...as you found out.
Sunex 9719 8 Piece 3/8" Drive Triple Square Bit Socket Set - Walmart.com If you remove the two screws under the dash that hold the black plastic tube...it will allow you to move it out of the way enough to work on the upper bolt. I believe there is a threaded plate or nuts welded in place inside the door frame. Brian. |

those bolts are in there stupid tight - I wound up stripping them even with the right tool - I had to drill them then spin the remaining bolt out with a vice grip - I don't remember what is on the other side (nut or plate) - I would think a plate as a nut would have no adjustment - good luck

the bolts are loctited in place so using heat should make removal easier they are called,
triple square fasteners , or cheesehead , or 12 point, whatever you like to call them if you stripped the heads then , I would use a soldeing iron and an easyout the fits into the head of the screw. remove the nuts that hold the plastic sheathing for easier access, this means parcel tray removal |
