Window switch wiring
I'm installing new (URO) window switches. The colors of the wires are different for two of the wires and the soldered connections on the back of the switch are slightly different, so it's not 100% clear which wire connects to what.
The wiring harness has red, brown, black and green wires and the new switch has red, brown, blue and yellow wires. I assume the red and brown wires connect (or do they?) but what about the blue and yellow? |

Where did the window switches come from?
In other words, ask the vendor that sold them to you for direction.

If the switch is a double pull, double throw, all 4 wires are needed. Take an ohm meter and check your new switch to determine which wires are connected when the switch is operated. Without looking at it, the switch might be switching both 12V and Ground.

The new switch is a URO unit from Roger. I used an ohm meter on the old switch to figure out which circuits were closing according the the switch position. Here are my findings for my '85;

Weak memory here, but how many kinds of switches are there? Is it early and late model, plus a cheap aftermarket version?

I replaced all window switches and I think they are the same, but the rear wiper switch might be different and I now need to replace it.
