Unhappy Fs: 86 951

I found out yesterday that my wife is expecting our 2nd child and so I'm reluctantly having to offer up my 1986 951 for sale in order to purchase an SUV.

Here is a little about the 951.....

1986, 2 owner car (i'm the second), comes complete with service records dating back to new. First owner kept a complete drivers log, he logged every mile put on the car (seriously). Brand New dunlop tires, phone dials, the car is a burgundy color on tan. JVC KDG-510 MP3/WMA CD player 4 new pioneer speakers.

Recent Service included belts (timing and drive), oil change, and I was going to replace the clutch (noisey throw out bearing). Car has 112K original and documented miles. I recently upgraded the Blow off valve to a XS Engineering RFL and added an HKS EVC I (Electronic Valve Controller) aka Boost Controller.

Car runs STRONG but does have a few MINOR cosmetic issues. My intention was to do a bunch of motor upgrades with Vitesse and have the car repainted....

Car has a clean and clear Alabama title in my name, title is in hand....

I'm asking $5700 obo which I think is a fair price for 951 with the records and documented miles this car has.

It always amazes me that the first thing husbands do is get rid of the sports car when the wife is expecting. This must be some sort of symbolism or act of passage. As the 944T is not worth all that much, why not just keep it and purchase another larger vehicle if needed - and preferably one that has a better tendency to remain upright in the event of a crash.

LOL......Well your quote is sort of true in my case......If I had more time and less current projects I would be more inclined to keep it. I waited 2 years to find the right car (944T) with the right pedigree so to say before I bought mine. I paid just over $6K for my 944T and I know I got a good deal, it's just the $5000 I'd let her go for would come in handy when slapping down the down payment on a new SUV.

I'm also selling off my C280 and M3, again uneeded toys that rarely see road time and spend 99.9% of their time in my warehouse.

Bottom dollar I would sell the 944T for is $4800.00 a steal by most peoples opinion....

'86s don't have airbags, so you can have a little one ride up front in a carseat. Keep it, and buy a used suv.

Aside from the fact that I'm an ardent SUV-hater. . .

I wonder why people think they "need" one at all. I'd be willing to bet that a 944 fares better in a lot of crashes than even new SUVs do. They're big but also prone to roll-overs. I wouldn't think twice about putting a child seat in my 944. About the only thing you have to worry about is being rear-ended by stupid inattentive SUV drivers yappin' on their cell phones. These cars are built like brick ****houses.
