Looking to buy a 951

Let me preface this with some history. I am a US Service member stationed in Kansas. I am currently deployed to Iraq with a return date in March 2011.

I have been driving, racing, and rebuilding Datsun Z-cars for the better part of the last 20 years. I just had my wife sell my "last" project of 12yrs, a '70 240-Z Track Car that served as a daily driver as well.

I am not looking for a 951 as a project, but I am not afraid to do maintenance. I am however looking for an un-molested, low mileage 951 to use as a daily driver and possible PCA HPDE track car.

My financial adviser (wife) says I can spend around 12K. I can spend more, but that will delay the father / son Datsun rebuild planned for a few years from now.

When I was home on R&R leave, I drove up to Omaha and looked at the last three. I was very impressed with all three of them, but the price seems a little high.

There is an absolutely beautiful 951 for sale over Rennlist for $13,500. If I had just waited a little while longer, I'd have bought it over my all-original '86.

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for being a service member and have a safe deployment. I just purchased my first 944 turbo.. It's awesome. Mine has 130k, A TON of mods, big reds, full cage, 3" exhuast ect. I only paid $5k. and it needs nothing. If your patient they are out there, A lot of people need money and are dumping the toys. Wait for the right one, because the wrong one will get very expensive. good luck

Your financial advisor is giving you lots of breathing room, in my opinion. Aside from her obvious fears, she must be very grateful for your service to the country. Z-karz are nice, but these babies are a whole different ball game.

Yeah, she is a great woman....it was just as hard for her to sell the Z as it was for me, and lets not even get started on how the kids feel.
